WE FACE

THE MOST DISASTROUS

ENVIRONMENTAL CRISIS

IN HUMAN HISTORY

”PLASTIC POLLUTION”

 IT’S KILLING OUR OCEANS

EXTERMINATING ITS MARINE LIFE

DESTROYING ITS ECOSYSTEMS

AND

IRREVERSIBLY POISONING OUR PLANET

“IT NEEDS TO END NOW”

WE CAN • WE MUST • WE WILL

TO CARE

FOR OUR OCEANS IT’S OUR DUTY

If we don’t take care of our Oceans, not just all Marine Life, but all life on Earth will suffer disastrous consequences.

We must absolutely join forces no matter the color of our skin, political choices or religious believes. This is not about any of that, this is about the survival of our most precious resource on the Planet, our Oceans!

If they do not prosper, neither will we!

OUR SOLUTION IS A PARAMOUNT CAUSE

AN UNPRECEDENTED GARGANTUAN ONE

“THE OCEANIDI PROJECT”

INFORM • EDUCATE • ERADICATE

MILLIONS

OF Tonnes of plastic enter our oceans

While exact quantification is nearly impossible to calculate, it is estimated that up to 8 Million Tonnes of Plastic has been entering our Oceans every YEAR! And new estimates go as far as up to 13 Million Tonnes per YEAR and set to increase exponentially as Global Plastic production keeps rising, and so does Plastic Waste.

This are the latest estimates, and that is the equivalent of 1440 to 2340 garbage trucks being dumped into our Oceans. EVERY SINGLE DAY.

This estimates would put Plastic Pollution WAY UP from the previously estimated 8 Million Tonnes per Year, as per the UN Environment Article.

If we do'n’t stop this, our oceans will get choked in plastic waste, and in just few decades, Plastic Waste will out-weight all fish in our Oceans.

KILLER IS

A THING THAT KILLS

Plastic Waste in our Oceans is a “KILLER”.

Its victims? EVERY ONE!!

Various reports have come up with figures that put Plastic Pollution related Human Deaths to up to “1” Million per year, as Plastic Waste accumulates in poorer areas where there is no collection in place.

Over “1.5” Million per year, are instead the estimated Plastic Pollution related deaths for Fish, Turtles, Marine Mammals and Birds pay the ultimate price, as they eat it, accidentally swallow it and or become entangled by it. This includes Plastic Waste from the smallest of Micro-plastics, Cigarette Butts, Plastic Bottles and Plastic Bags to the largest “GHOST NETS”.

Plastic Pollution is killing without boundaries nor limits, it kills without mercy, it kills the life giving Microscopic Marine lifeforms with the same indifference as they kill the most majestic and largest creatures in the world. WHALES.

THE OXYGEN

We breathe COMES from our oceanS too

In fact Phytoplankton, a marine plant Micro-organism can produce up to 50% & marine Seagrass can account for up to 25% more.

They produce Oxygen via photosynthesis as they process marine nutrients and carbon dioxide with sunlight into sugars, their source of energy.

With Forests around the world disappearing alarmingly fast we will depend more and more on our Oceans, but we must Eradicate Plastic Pollution before it destroys such fundamentally vital Ecosystem.

CO2 EMISSIONS

ARE absorbed by our oceans too

Marine Plants are also responsible for the absorption of CO2 and especially in the case of Sea Grass in particular can absorb up to an astonishing 35 times more Carbon Dioxide (CO2) than the same area of land forest.

This is yet another important reason to protect our Oceans, especially so considering how global deforestation has been growing at an alarmingly dangerous rate, making our Oceans that much more vital resource to our survival and that of our Planet.

IT’S INHUMANE

to do nothing

Coastal & Riverbank communities, such as the one pictured above in the Indonesian Citarum River, are surviving in catastrophic conditions with their entire ecosystem buried in PLASTIC WASTE.

Plastic Waste which ultimately ends up in our Oceans.

Saving them is an Humanitarian/Environmental priority.

THE POISON

Is RELEASED BY deteriorating plastic WASTE

This is also how Plastic Pollution negatively affects the environment, by spilling its chemicals into the ground and waterways and into our Oceans.

Ultimately finding their way into our food chain, where it can lead to serious health conditions such as infertility, harm unborn children, cause cancer and heart failure.

ECO-ELIMINATION

of all plastic WASTE is a priority

Over 300 MILLION TONNES of plastic are produced yearly, with more than 8 BILLION TONNES produced to date, yet only an estimate 9% of all plastic waste is recycled.

If this does not change immediately, our Oceans and our entire Planet will be irreversibly choked by Plastic Waste with definitive and irreversible disastrous consequences to all life species on our Planet, and that includes the Human species too.
